Cooperations

For the sake of the future

Mobility and the environment

The Automotive Technology Advanced Training Center operates independently, but not alone. We maintain close cooperation with the Automotive Trade Association, with whom we jointly develop training, instruction, and educational concepts. In this way, we promote the close integration of workplace and academic learning.

We also cooperate with other partners in the industry. We are part of the "Mobility2Grid" association, a research cluster with the Technical University of Berlin, which explores future mobility and transportation concepts. We have close ties to the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, which not only offers a pathway for our graduates but has also trained several of our teaching staff.

With our communications and information technology, we are able to meet all requirements, and with our environmental concept, we place great emphasis on sustainability, even in waste disposal. We also develop our students' social skills by involving them in this process. For example, we not only have the usual waste separation in the school building, but also regularly conduct cleaning services by school classes. The following measures underscore our school's ambitions in environmental protection.

In our cooperation with municipal waste disposal companies, we ensure that environmental protection and sustainability are reflected in our daily activities.

Waste separation/cleaning

In the "Living Space School" model, the entire school grounds will be cleaned daily by our school classes on a rotating basis starting with the 2012/13 school year (School Grounds Cleaning Plan pdf button). Cleaning of the school grounds in the last block will be expanded to include the removal of large waste (cups, bags, boxes) in the hallways and stairwells.

All rooms in the OSZ Automotive Technology are equipped with a waste separation system (paper, packaging, residual waste).

Battery collection containers are located in the departmental collections, in the teachers' room, in the secretariat, in the e-mobility workshop and in the IT preparation area (www.grs-batterien.de).

The disposal of energy-saving lamps/neon tubes is carried out by Veolia GmbH.

The environmentally friendly disposal of scrap metal is carried out by the certified company Fehr.

Recycling/E-waste

All data storage media (CDs, DVDs, etc.) are collected in special containers and sent to a specialist waste disposal company (www.blueboxx.info). The value of the collected data storage media is donated to the Association for Children with Cancer in Hanover. The collection containers are located in the teachers' lounge and in the IT collection area.

Used toner and ink cartridges are collected in special containers and sent to a specialist waste disposal company (Collect GmbH, Industriepark 1, 77955 Ettenheim). The collection containers are located in the teachers' lounge and in the IT collection area.

The disposal of IT equipment (PCs, monitors, printers, e-waste) is carried out by Veolia GmbH.

procurement

When purchasing IT equipment, care is taken to ensure it has an on/off switch to prevent false consumption. Energy-saving Intel NUC PCs with a power consumption of only 20 watts are used in the computer rooms.
